An impressive antique stone sundial carved as an octagonal column on a stepped square base, the top crenellated and fitted with a good quality octagonal bronze plate. This unusual design is reminiscent of a castellated chimney but the column is solid limestone and the top is carved from Ketton stone, typically associated with early garden ornaments. It is large enough to be a main focal point even in a spacious garden and was formerly in a large garden in Suffolk.
19th Century (possibly earlier)
